About DataNAI

We are building practical AI tools for NZ and AU businesses.

We're a small startup based in Auckland. Not a consultancy with a bench of contractors, not a vendor with a product to push — just a small team who are good at this and want to help businesses get real value from AI.

The team

Two backgrounds, one focus

One of us comes from software engineering — building production systems, data pipelines, and AI applications. The other comes from business consulting — understanding how organisations work and what problems are worth solving.

That combination means we can build something technically sound and make sure it actually fits your business.

Why small is good

You talk to the people doing the work

With bigger firms, you often talk to a salesperson, then get handed to a project manager, then get handed to whoever is available. With us, the people you talk to in the first call are the people building your thing.

That means faster decisions, fewer misunderstandings, and a team that's genuinely invested in your project working out.

Where we're at

Early stage, honest about it

We're an early-stage startup. We don't have a long list of named clients yet. What we do have is deep technical capability, real experience shipping AI systems, and a strong motivation to make our first clients very happy.

If you work with us now, you get our full attention — not a company that's spread across dozens of accounts.

How we work

Simple, transparent, focused on outcomes.

Start with the problem

We begin every project by understanding the business problem, not the technology. If AI isn't the right tool, we'll say so.

Scope before we start

We define clear deliverables and a realistic timeline before any work begins. No scope creep, no surprise invoices.

Build things that ship

We focus on working software, not demos. If it's not production-ready at the end, we haven't finished.

Based in Auckland

Auckland-based, working with clients across NZ and Australia.

We can meet in person for Auckland clients. For everyone else, we work remotely — and the NZ/AU time zone overlap makes it easy.
